Emulating a cloud, Stratus challenges the possibilities of the compression molding process by reconfiguring the way we look at the relationship of biomaterials in lighting. Both the form and materiality of this fixture connect back to nature.

How we can implement waste bio-mass material in the industrial product?

In the materials selections we were trying to avoid unrecyclable materials. We are using metals, the composite material based on biomass and natural binders as well as LED bulbs. We wanted to create unique solution that will be valuable, scalable product that can compete with conventional lighting solutions. With this lamp we were trying to bring attention to the impact of the design choices during production processes as well to prove that conscious material choices are not a

limitation in terms of aesthetic.
